At the age of 26, Justin has compiled an enviable list of playing experiences that have taken him from the home of jazz music in Kansas City to the hot New York City scene and also throughout Europe. Son to a musician and an actress, Justin was born and raised in Lawrence, Kansas with the performing arts at the forefront of his studies. Before moving to New York City in 2002, Justin found himself with a plethora of playing opportunities in the Kansas City music scene: The Pool Boys, Swing 39, Skip Hawkins Orchestra, The New Vintage Big Band to name a few. He also played many musicals in the area including Cabaret, Music Man, Songs For a New World and some experimental musicals like Lullaby of Broadway and the Waltz Project. Justin attended the University of Kansas for two years and then moved to NYC to continue his studies in jazz bass at the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music. Due to his high musical ability, exciting stage presence and fun personality he has been on call and played with several New York based bands including the Billy Harper Quintet, Teddy Geiger, and Krista. Justins roots in musical theatre has him playing for many singer showcases and off broadway musicals including Williamsburg The Musical. Justin has considerable experience in Live and Studio sound. He has run sound for many bands at Birdland, Canal Room, and The Bowery. Justins new company, The Jazz Productions LLC, is a full blown mix studio specializing in mixing and music creation for adverstisment. Just also has a portable studio for field recording.
